We had some teething problems, with our apology for any inconvenience. The first problem was one of a navigation script, one that points you to your correct TNG instance upon accessing your site. It worked for a couple of hours, until one of you (to be nameless, blameless and also innocently) logged in and did some change, which caused the new version to overwrite one of our special scripts. Oops, and then everyone was pointing to the wrong TNG homepage.
The second problem was that the newest template, Template #15, was not working correctly. That required the copying over of the missing template’s configuration files, and all was restored. There may be further issues but hopefully they become minor ones. We also might see some anomalies because of the updating of TNG to v.11 itself, as the TNG author continues to clean up minor bugs.
So, what has changed? If you just use TNG as a backup system to your main research, then nothing has changed that will influence your work. All parts of older version 10 will be working in version 11. No need to read any further.
If the new features interest you, we are going to have a series of articles here that will guide you through the changes. I am personally excited to try out this version and will be having fun testing and writing the articles. Darrin Lythgoe, the TNG creator, has made some significant improvements that will impress the casual and the serious family tree researcher.
