Tasks

1. Starting Up
   • If TNG is going to be your secondary site, clean up your genealogy data before creating a GEDCOM to import to TNG.
     See tutorial: Cleaning up your data.
   • Change your password upon first log-in.
     See tutorial: How to change your password when first starting.
   • Complete Site Name and Site Owner and choose desired links to show:
     See tutorial: Homepage – Maintained By
   • General Settings in Site Design and Definition section
   • Add Users, e.g. your current research collaborators, if any

2. Homepage
   • Choose Template:

   • Create Home Page Header Title:

   • Create Home page text

   • Add Home Page image
     See tutorial: Homepage – Image
3. Import Data
   • Choose privacy settings
     [Admin page: Setup >> Configuration >> Import Settings]
   • Import GEDCOM(s), (unless inputting data manually)
     [TNG Admin page: Import/Export >> GEDCOM Import]
   • Validate the data by comparing import results to original data
   • Check TNG Validation reports
     [TNG Admin page: Miscellaneous >> Data Validation]
   • Create additional Trees (if they are required)

   • Re-sort spouses and children by marriage and birth dates, respectively, if needed,
     [TNG Admin page: Import/Export >> Secondary Processes]
   • Create new Custom Event Types
     [TNG Admin page: Custom Event Types >> Add New Event Type]
     for every desired event in your data you want to have in TNG that are not found in the default TNG event types list, which is found on the TNG Admin page: Custom Event Types
   • Geocode Places without latitude and longitude
     [TNG Admin page: Places >> Geocode]
4. Add Media

     • Upload Media Uploading Media
     • Import Media in Bulk Importing Media
5. Finally:
   • Notify MWP Team Lead, Paul Featherstone, that your TNG site is now active
   • Update your Guild Profile Page with link to your new active TNG site
   • Send out notification emails to research collaborators, friends and family
